Jeter a Projected All Star, Teixeira Not
In a shocking All Star evaluation, Yahoo Sports' Jeff Passan predicts the likely 2011 All Star roster. New York Yankees captain Derek Jeter surprisingly is predicted to make the All Star team even though he is only batting .260 and slugging a measly .324.
What is even more shocking that unless there is a huge turn of events Yankees' first baseman Mark Teixeira will not make the All Star team. Teixeira leads the team with 55 RBIs and is tied with center fielder Curtis Granderson for 21 home runs.
Teixeira is also slugging .537. Jeter will make the All Star team not for his stats (they are awful), or what he has done this season, but because of his name and his past glory. Teixeira unfortunatey will get snubbed, even tho he is more then deserving of reaching his third All Star game.
Another notable projected snub, is Cincinatti Reds outfielder Jay Bruce. Bruce is batting .285 with 49 RBIs. Bruce however has to compete against other talented outfielders who are also having All Star worthy seasons such as, Matt Kemp, Ryan Braun, Lance Berkman, Hunter Pence, Justin Upton, etc..
It is also believed that last year's AL Cy Young winner will not make this year' AL All Star team, a shocking turn of events for the hard throwing righty. Accordingn to Passan Hernandez will most likely be beaten out by fellow AL hurlers, CC Sabathia, Josh Becket, Justin Verlander, etc...
Who do you think deserves to make this years MLB AL and NL All Star Teams?
